TAKE THE COURAGE!

Image
You understand how occasionally you find yourself in a condition in your business where there’s something you need to do but you’re dreading doing it? This happens to all of us , whether it’s speaking in front of a whole lot of people, making a scary phone call, or shooting that video. When something makes you so nervous you actually start to feel sick, it’s not a fun place to be. We all know what needs to be done but we feel stuck and we can’t manage to do it. Frankly speaking, even as I write this, knowing I have one of those situations on the horizon, I’m getting a little lightheaded. sounds dramatic?, maybe, but true. When situations like this arise, the first thing I say to myself is, "Don’t sit in the stress." You know that place I’m talking about where you think about it over and over and over, you imagine outcomes, and you create scripts and conversations in your head? That place where you get sweaty palms and a nervous stomach from worrying and contemplating, .....

KEEP GOING THROUGH THE REGRET

Image
We are constantly trying new things as fashion business owners, very often we experimenting with new techniques and always testing fresh ideas. This means we’re putting ourselves out there a lot. And sometimes, we wind up doing something that we regret. Perhaps, we say something without thinking that upsets people. Or maybe we share more about ourselves than we intended. Or perhaps we vocalize an unpopular opinion. Or maybe we react publicly and not so thoughtfully to a rude follower or customer. Regardless of what it is, we usually feel the impact of that pretty quickly. People call us out, or we lose followers on social media, or we get more "unsubscribes" on our email list. And regret creeps in pretty quickly. We can feel as though we totally screwed up. We can feel embarrassed. We can wonder "What the hell was I thinking?" But I want you to know something. It will be OK . Honestly, as you work to build your fashion business, you will do things that you regret.

WHEN YOU FEEL LIKE GIVING UP ON YOUR FASHION BUSINESS

Image
When you finally decide to launch your fashion business, you feel good right ? " Everyone d oes act ually " . You are so excited. Maybe a little scared but that fear is still exciting. You're smiling, you're thinking about how amazing this is going to be, you're ready to do this challenging and fulfilling thing that you've been dreaming about. And then you start. And things are hard and you want to quit. And your confidence in this entire endeavor plummets. And that is damn scary. But here's the thing — it's 100% normal. It happens to so many new business owners.  The thrill you feel at the start is based on the fact that you don't know what you don't know. You don't yet realize the depth of learning and education you have in front of you. You haven't experienced things not going your way yet. You don't see the rollercoaster that is ahead of you. This has a name. It's called the Dunning-Kruger Effect  and it's all a

WAYS TO INCREASE YOUR ONLINE SALES

Image
One of the most common things emerging designers are facing is a frustration with a lack of sales on their website. Why none or low sales happening? Well, assuming you have a very strong and attentive marketing plan, the issue has to do with converting these website visitors into actual customers. Browsing without buying and abandoning cart are behaviors you’ll need to work on. When it comes to increasing your online sales conversions, one thing you need to do is create a shopping experience that will make your community feel delighted and cared for. But there are some key experiences that you can implement in order to help make those sales and grow your fashion business. 1.   INCLUDE VIDEO ON THE PRODUCT PAGE This is not new but it's still not widely use by many emerging brand. Yes! Of course, it can be costly to add this to your website, but including video on your product page is a much more engaging experience for your potential customers and make them see what the product lo

WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE TIME TO DO EVERYTHING

Image
Many time, I hear people say  "I don’t have time to do everything." And it seem to be a common plight of a startup/running fashion business.      When you get involves in many things, it can feel overwhelming and impossible to get to the things that you need to in order to grow.       Yep! i understand. I’ve been there too, and to be candid it’s really difficult. But I want to tell you a few things.         First, of course nobody have the time to do everything. So, stop putting the pressure on yourself to "do it all," "be it all," "have it all." This pressure is debilitating and usually leads to no progress at all, rather than progress made in stages.      You can’t do everything at once. It’s not possible. Do what that needs to be done, which honestly, is not "everything,"  learn to prioritize and get done what is reasonable for one (driven, determined, and goal-oriented) person.     You have to be okay with that

NO IS AN INVITATION TO WORK HARDER

Image
Sometimes ago, i over heard "No is an invitation to work harder," and I liked it. Not because I don't think that we are all already working hard enough. I liked it because it's such a good attack on the toxic mindset of  "They said no, so now it's over." Launching, running, and growing a fashion business is a life-long exercise in hearing the word "no." From buyers. From partners. From factories. From customers. From suppliers. Everything running smoothly is not a realistic goal. What is a realistic goal is to adopt the mindset that hearing "no" is simply an invitation to work harder on the things you believe in. By this I mean, when that buyer says "No," don't delete the email thread and sulk. Instead, ask why. Ask for feedback in order to improve your offering or to get a better idea of their customer so you can decide if this store really was as great of a fit as you thought. When you hear "No&q

RALPH LAUREN BUSINESS SECRETS

Image
Ralph Lauren is a native New Yorker born in 1939. The designer is best known for his ability to create lifestyle dressing. He was born Ralph Rueben Lifshitz, the son of Jewish refugees from Eastern Europe. As a young child, he exhibited a sense of style. Ralph and his brother could often be found thrift-shop hunting; it was here that Ralph discovered fashion as a means of identity transformation. Lauren began his design career with his 1967 tie collection, Polo, a division of Beau Brummel Company. The line was adopted by Bloomingdales. In 1968, Lauren and the name Polo joined forces with Norman Hilton, a men’s suit maker. Never timid to expand, Lauren created full lines of mens and women’s apparel. Possessing a keen sense of fashion marketing, Lauren understood the power of branding early in his career and his “polo player” logo is one of the most recognized logos throughout the world. Inspired by the colors of M&M candies, Lauren offered his famous polo shirts in th

YOU MUST BE A PROBLEMS SOLVER

Image
It's quite surprising when people are praying so to say for big opportunity and big problem show's up. Hear this ; Problem is opportunity in disguise.     Your ability to succeed is in direct proportion to your ability to solve your problems. I recently read ↓ somewhere; If I’m being honest, I had to teach myself how to get good at being decisive with solving problems. And it’s still something I struggle with. I’m a classic "what-if’er" and it has bitten me in the ass more than once. And I know that I’m not alone in this. Creative people entering into the world of business tend to be way more contemplative; "perfectionists" (not a real thing, in my opinion) that don’t always have the experience or the personality type to make swift business decisions. And because of this, our problems don’t get solved, which keeps us from making any progress. It’s not an insult, just an observation. The issue is that it’s important to get good at problem solving; i

KEEP IMPROVING YOURSELF.

Image
Dear Designers, Business is an ongoing process. Nothing is the way you want it to be as you plan in the beginning. Nothing is perfect. And that’s OK. It is part of our job as business owners to keep improving. Listen to me, I know that impatiently striving for "completion" is something we all do sometimes. We think there’s this magical point to reach at which we will  have figured it all out and things will just run smoothly. The secret is, there is no such point. With growth comes change. And with change comes maintenance. I think one of the most liberating realizations we can come upon is that our businesses will always be a work in progress. Even when you’re making a million. Even when you’ve got a team of ten. When we change our feeling of "When I finally get to particular point, all will be well" to the feeling of "This will always be a work in progress", we are able to calm down and enjoy it. There’s an ease that sets over us when we realize tha

WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A GOOD DESIGNER

Image
One thing I notice in fashion businesses is the inability for the designers to believes in their selves as a business people, and this is one of the biggest hurdles in the growth of our businesses since there is lack of confidence in ourselves as a designer.  We tend to assume that we need to bend to what others are asking, instead of owning our worth as smart, capable, adaptable designers. The thing about not believe or having confidence in ourselves as a designer is that it keeps us from doing the things we should be doing in our business; the things that will make us a good designer. Things like competing with self, challenging ourselves, and being decisive. Anyway, It's all about mindset. But certain thing i know is, If we don't believe that we have or we can learn the technical know-how to lead our business into growth, then we won't lead our business into growth.Just as simple as that. I'm not saying that it isn't important to listen to others&
